The German based association OBOAFO PROJECT e.V. was founded by 10 committed members on January 2nd 2022 in Berlin. Joint traveling to Ghana, getting to know the Ghanaian society and the many encounters and impressions have created a deep bond with the country and its people. Through visits to schools and humanitarian organizations, the vision was born to start an aid project in Ghana.
OBOAFO comes from the languages of the Akan people in Ghana and the Ivory Coast and means helper or assistant. Our association shall be a helper/assistant for the improvement of the living conditions of many Ghanaian children and youth and their families as well as an opportunity for humanitarian and social engagement for people from all over the world.
The OBOAFO PROJECT consists of many individual projects and engagements. The center of activities is to be the construction of the Children and Youth Center in the Greater Accra Region. There, in the Comet Hills near Kwabenya/Accra a wonderful place will be built, which will offer a lot of space for activities in sports and culture, creativity, education and social help. Children and young people from the region will have a permanent place to meet and receive support. Furthermore, OBOAFO PROJECT will provide local help in the field of environmental protection, water supply and social help for the needy. We want to make a lasting change together with the local people. Our Ghanaian partner organization OBOAFO PROJECT LBG is closely networked with the local people and decision makers. All projects are implemented with low administrative overhead and exclusively with local service providers who are carefully selected based on our values of sustainability and ethics.
We are absolutely independent of economic, political or religious interests and are solely committed to the values of humanity and the principle that everyone in the world has the same rights and should have the same opportunities for a good life.
