Social Center for Children and Youth

On the outskirts of the capital and metropolis Accra, OBOAFO PROJECT has acquired a plot of land in the Comet Hills, Greater Accra Region, with funds from the founders, in order to permanently establish a children’s and youth center there. OBOAFO PROJECT LBG was founded as the local project partner.

The construction and operation of the center is intended to provide long-term support for local children, adolescents, and their families. Trained teachers, who run the center permanently, as well as volunteers from all over the world, will provide the children and adolescents with an opportunity to broaden their knowledge and experience. The aim is to enable the children and adolescents to lead independent lives through vocational training. In addition, interest is to be awakened in their talents and abilities. The children and adolescents are to receive targeted long-term support, including scholarships and sponsorships, as well as the opportunity to help out in the center on a permanent basis.

In addition to learning content and supervision, the focus is on creative and sporting activities. The children and adolescents should also experience success in the community and thus be strengthened in their social behavior. At the same time, basic needs are to be covered in the facility, such as eating together, the provision of toys and school supplies, and the like.

For the construction of the project about 150.000 € are needed, this includes the construction and the furnishing of the center. For this, OBOAFO PROJECT is dependent on donations. The running costs are to be financed by donations as well as by contributions.
